Maximum Ride Vol 1: The Graphic Novel

This book does have great pictures, and it is great to see the characters I knew and loved from the Maximum Ride Series come to life. I was a little disappointed in the book, though. The problem with graphic novels is that it is difficult (at least with this one) to get a sense of the characters' personalities. This novel was so action packed, that the wit and humor Max uses when telling the story was completely left out. So yes, I did enjoy the pictures of these beloved characters, but sadly the best part of the story (Max's perspective on life) was no where to be found.

Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson

Wow! This series has character depth, humor, mystery, romance, and even tips on stopping Global Warming! Only James Patterson could put all of this into a series, and still make it enjoyable for the reader. Even though the main characters are "mutant freak bird kids," they seemed realistic. In fact, after reading all 5 books, I feel that Max, Fang, Iggy, Gazzy, and Angel are my friends. I can't wait to visit with them again when book 6 comes out in March!

Perks of Being a Wallflower

Do you want a book that is full of wit, humor, and life insights? Check out Plerks of Being a Wallflower. This book is written from Charlie's perspective. He is a freshman in highschool who is very sensitive. Charlie seems to really care about life and the people around him, but often, he cannot handle the stresses of life. Charlie is an extremely shy person, or a wallflower. This book is painful at times, sad at times, and very thought provoking. Charlie has experienced much pain in his short life. As you finish the book, you will come to understand why he is such a complex and sensitive person.
